I had the same impression. For example when the teacher asked what would be different if they had a gravity drop in. The rider response was that they would be less tired. I think the teacher was going for something more in the context of physics.
Either way, getting the young people excited about education is always a plus.

You're right it doesn't have to be leeching... but this mine is.
My point was in most cases the less socially accepted solutions are the cheapest ones.
There are almost always alternative ways to extract certain ores, even ways that are more environmental friendly. It's the cost of extraction that decides how it is done. Open pit mass leech is cheaper and safer than adit type mining. So regardless which way is cleaner and better for the land, it will go the way that is more cost effective.

I agree with smike. Personally, just because some topics are advanced and require specialized tools, doesn't mean it's not worth knowing and understanding. Just understanding what is done by your lbs shop, even if you're not inspired to attempt it on your own, makes you a better informed rider.
